19th century Victorian pulldown hall lamp, diamond pattern blue mother of pearl satin shade, white cased glass interior, great blow-out cylinder body, brass fittings, Gothic Revival motif on brass bottom fitting that pulls down and holds a font, pull down ceiling fixture with nicely working original rollers,   shade- 8.5” dia, 10” tall, full lamp- 34” tall.      Condition – excellent, no chips, nicks or bruises, font not available/3.5" dia.      (223)  sold

Circa 1880 satin glass ewer, Stevens & Williams, sought after Pompeian swirl and in the excellent peachblow colors popular at the time, fading from deep rose to brilliant yellows at the rim, pearl finish, cased interior/white lining, satin frosted applied handle, 12” tall.     Condition – excellent.     (360)

 Exceptional Victorian library table, by Merklin Bros, NYC, 1882-1897, solid primavera (topline offering by Merklen), spiral reeded edge and skirt moldings, shaped spiral reeded, turned legs, skirt castings are of a winged full bodied dragon holding a serpent in its mouth, shelf brackets are lion heads with bat wings and the cast claw with the typical Merklen wood ball feet, 38” long, 25.5” wide, 29.5” tall.    Condition – excellent finish and condition, restored old possibly original finish, mounts seem to have the original aged bronzed finish.    355

C 1860-70 Renaissance Victorian center table, probably NYC, maybe P&S or Gustave Herter, solid and burl walnut, rare Sienna marble top, desirable and unusual form with bowed ends and cabriole legs, bellflower/leaf carved tablet raised and incise panel skirt, fluted legs with scrolled leaf and bulls eye carvings, full burl stretcher with great holly leaf, berry and ribbon carving and incise carved medallion, 43” long, 28” wide, 28.5” tall.    Condition - good original finish, original marble top, some mild veneer bubble/loss on one tablet and one curved stretcher top, missing castors, mild sunbleaching on one side/not offensive, nice patina.         364

American brilliant period cut glass BOWL, “Clarke”(faint script signature), Quatrefoil Rosette(Waldorf), pat 1899, 69 hobstars, beaded mitres, extra fine button panels, 9.5” dia, 4” tall.    Condition – excellent overall, one outside edge rim flake.    (216)
- this intricate pattern was the first design known to have been done by Thomas B Clarke himself and patented on Jan 31, 1899.
- This design is said to be reminiscent of the magnificent European cathedrals.
- One of the most beautiful, ornate and expensive designs produced. This was cut by order only due to the expense of cutting.
- This bowl has four rose cut diamonds and 70 hobstars!

Fine American brilliant cut glass ROSEBOWL, extremely large 10” diameter, plain Block Optic design for display of large show blooms, thirteen rows of graduating size deeply cut blocks, possibly Smith Bros Glass Co, heavy clear 5/8th inch thick blank/.25” deep cuts, 10 lbs,  10” dia, 8.5” tall.     Condition – excellent.   285
- Smith Bros acquired their blanks from Mt Washington Glass Co and their successor, the Pairpoint Co. See pg 62, Am Cut & Engraved Glass, Revi.
- Smith Bros and/or Mt Washington called this design – Block Diamond Fine.

Fine American brilliant cut glass PITCHER / 12 TUMBLERS,  Dorflinger, Chester design, hobstars in diamonds band above wide notched prism motif, ten flutes on neck with band, deep buttons full length of handle, great clear glass, pitcher-8.5” tall, 8.5” spout-handle, tumblers-4” tall.    Condition – excellent condition, no chips or nicks, one tumbler has one inch rim hairline, one tumbler has flake on bottom.     234  sold

- This pitcher is in the 1918 catalog page of pitchers along with the “Wisteria”/Lovebirds/#209. These two were the highest cost at that time.

American brilliant cut glass PITCHER, “Libbey”, Wisteria or Lovebirds, pair of parrots sitting on a branch of wisteria blossoms surrounding body, brilliant cut branches and leaves, diamond motif band around top, notch fluted spout, two triple noted panels on handle, 8.25” tall, 7” spout to handle.    Condition – excellent overall, one .25” bruise on rim/no loss.      236
An excellent example of this motif. Deep cutting and great clear glass.
- There is an example of this pitcher is in the 1918 Libbey catalog page of pitchers along with #208, These two are the highest cost at that time.

Unusual heavy American brilliant cut glass bowl, “Hawkes”, great deep “blown-out” sides, deeply cut mitres between blown-out panels, alternating zipper and hobstars with fan on panels, heavy clear glass, 5/8th inch thick, 7 lbs, 10” dia, 3” tall.          Condition – excellent overall, two minor depth rim flakes-one on top edge/one inside edge, some minor nicks on bottom of one zipper panel.     (220)
- Blown-out panels reminiscent of Fritchie/Kny rock crystal blanks. (on this unusual example the blown out panels do not extend to edge).
- T G Hawkes catalog, pg 137, shows Kohinoor on blow-out bowls. (an ACGA reprint)
- Kohinoor was probably named after a famous diamond in the British crown jewels collection. Kohinoor meaning “mountain of light” was the name given to the 105 carat diamond which was at the time the largest known diamond. A damond that has been in existence for many centuries…to the point that its origin before 1294 is uncertain.

Oval COVERED COMPOTE, Westward Ho, Gillinder & Sons, Phila, 1879, low standard, 4” tall kneeling Indian finial with tomahawk, frosted band with buffalo, log cabin, stag and doe amoung mountains and trees, rising sun, reeded base, 12” tall, 9” long, 5.75” wide.    Condition – excellent, no chips or nicks.   Guaranteed old / not reproduced.   227
- Original name – Pioneer, also called Tippecanoe.
- This pattern was probably inspired by the Centennial and the Western expansion of the US at the time.
- The kneeling Indian was difficult to mold. The mold was complex, having to open in four or more pieces-“Corning Museum of Glass”.

- This is an original compote with a well detailed Indian, animals and the detailed/shape closed mouth of the deer of the originals.

- This overall pattern is reminiscent of Libbey’s Marcella design. See pg 20, “Rarities in American Cut Glass”, Weiner & Lipkowitz.

- I believe this is Hawkes Kohinoor design that was used on their blow-out bowls. This syrup is a blow-out blank, but is accomplished more by protusion cutting exterior. The shaped blank can be seen from the bottom.
